The people, brands, and companies you see on this website are doing things I could never dream of doing. Cherboys is a clothing and lacrosse company that gives half of its earnings to help kids with special needs. Fabrik8 is a freelance engineering firm started by two guys with three engineering degrees between them. Kendall Berents is a writer and yoga instructor living and working in Manhattan while studying at Columbia University. Jeremiah Link is a middle school math teacher turned hip-hop artist.
I have no idea how to screen print and I've never played lacrosse. My Media Art and Design degree is far flung from the mechanical and electrical engineering degrees of the Fabrik8 guys. This "about" page might be the closest to a novel I ever get, and although I definitely enjoy yoga, you probably don't want me teaching it. I've dabbled in rap and hip-hop music, but it's not at the forefront of my musical sensibilities.
But what I didn't expect about design is how it's given me an avenue to be invested in people and businesses that I never would have been able to otherwise. I have been able to empower them to do what they do better, and I've seen the art I make inspire them to keep pursuing their projects with passion.
That's my favorite part of design: using the skills I have to help and inspire other people to do what they do better. I'd love to do that for you.
